This converter turns HEIC photos into PNG files. HEIC is the format an iPhone saves photos in, and many Windows programs, websites and upload forms cannot read it. Add one photo or a whole folder of them and each is converted in turn, in your browser. The photos are not uploaded, and a batch downloads as a single ZIP.
How to Convert HEIC to PNG

What Changes When HEIC Becomes PNG
- Quality: Nothing more is lost. PNG stores every pixel of the decoded photo exactly.
- File size: Much larger. In our tests a 2.9 MB iPhone photo became a 21.5 MB PNG, and a 0.7 MB photo became 2.2 MB.
- Metadata: The PNG holds the picture only. The date, camera details and GPS location in the HEIC are not copied across.
- Live Photos: The still image is converted. The short video that goes with it is a separate file.
- Rotation: The photo comes out the right way up. The rotation stored in the HEIC is applied.
PNG or JPG for iPhone Photos?
PNG is the right choice when the photo will be edited, when a program insists on PNG, or when you want a copy with no further loss. For sending, posting or storing photos, JPG is nearly always better: it looks the same on screen at a small part of the size. Use the HEIC to JPG Converter for that. Stopping an iPhone From Making HEIC Files
If you would rather not convert at all, the iPhone can save JPG photos. Open Settings, then Camera, then Formats, and choose Most Compatible. New photos are then saved as JPG. Photos already taken stay as HEIC and still need converting.

Is HEIC to PNG lossless?
The conversion step is. The PNG holds exactly what the HEIC decodes to. The HEIC itself was compressed when the photo was taken, and that cannot be undone.
Why is the PNG so much larger than the HEIC?
HEIC discards detail the eye does not notice and PNG keeps everything. A photograph several times the size is normal.
Will the PNG have a transparent background?
Only if the HEIC had one, and photos from a camera do not. Converting to PNG does not remove a background.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. The HEIC is decoded and the PNG is written in your browser, so the photos do not leave your device.
