This SVG to PNG converter draws a vector file as a PNG image at the pixel size you choose. An SVG has no size of its own, so one has to be picked when it becomes pixels. Choose 1024, 2048 or 4096 pixels, add one file or a batch, and download the PNGs. The transparent background is kept, which is the usual reason for choosing PNG, and the files are converted on your device.
How to Convert SVG to PNG
- Pick the output size. The buttons above the upload box set the longer side of the PNG. It starts at 2048 px.
- Add the SVG files. Drop them on the box or click to choose. They are converted as they arrive.
- Download. Save each PNG, or use Download All for a ZIP.
Which Size to Choose
| Size | Typical use | Our test: a 1 KB icon |
|---|---|---|
| Original | When the SVG states its size and you want exactly that | 5 KB at 150 px |
| 1024 px | Documents, chat, app icons | 55 KB |
| 2048 px | Websites, slides, product listings | 151 KB |
| 4096 px | Print and anything you may crop | 456 KB |
A larger size does not cost sharpness, only file space. A detailed drawing grows faster than an icon: a 94 KB illustration became 338 KB at 2048 px and 644 KB at 4096 px.
What Changes When an SVG Becomes a PNG
- It stops scaling. The SVG is sharp at any size. The PNG is sharp at the size it was made and softer when enlarged.
- Transparency stays. Areas with nothing drawn on them remain transparent in the PNG.
- It can no longer be edited as shapes. Paths, text and layers become one flat picture. Keep the SVG as your master file.
- The file usually gets bigger. An SVG stores instructions and a PNG stores every pixel.
PNG or JPG?
PNG is the right target for logos, icons and line art, because it keeps hard edges clean and the background transparent. If the place you are sending the file accepts only JPG, use the SVG to JPG Converter, which fills the background with white. A PNG that turns out too heavy for a web page can be made smaller with the PNG to WebP Converter.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the PNG keep the transparent background?
Yes. An SVG with no background rectangle becomes a PNG with a transparent background. We checked this with four files, and the empty areas were fully transparent in every one.
What size will the PNG be?
The size you pick is the longer side: 1024, 2048 or 4096 pixels. The shorter side follows the shape of the drawing. Original uses the size written in the SVG file.
Why did Original give me a tiny picture?
The SVG has no width and height written in it. The browser then falls back to a small default, which was 150 pixels in our test in Chrome. Pick one of the pixel sizes instead.
Is the PNG as sharp as the SVG?
At the size you converted it, yes. It is drawn from the vector shapes at that size. Enlarging the PNG afterwards will blur it, so convert again at a larger size instead.
Why is part of my drawing cut off?
The SVG is missing a viewBox, so the browser cannot tell how large the drawing is. Open the file in a vector editor, fit the page to the drawing and save it again.
Are fonts and linked images included?
Text set in a font that is not installed on your device is drawn in a fallback font. Images linked from another address are not loaded. Convert text to outlines and embed images for a faithful result.
