Image Rounded Corners

Add rounded corners to your images online easily and instantly.

This tool rounds the corners of an image. Add a PNG, JPG, WebP or BMP, set the radius, and download the result. Saved as PNG or WebP, the area outside the corners is transparent, so the picture can sit on any background. The image keeps its original pixel size, and the work is done in your browser.

How to Round the Corners of an Image

  1. Add the image: drag a PNG, JPG, WebP or BMP file into the box above or click to choose it.
  2. Set the radius: use a preset or the slider. Switch off Link All to give each corner its own radius.
  3. Choose the corner fill: transparent, or a solid colour to match the page the image will sit on.
  4. Choose the format and download: PNG keeps the corners transparent. JPG fills them with the colour you chose.

How the Radius Works

The radius is measured in pixels of the image, not of the screen. A 40-pixel radius is a strong curve on a 300-pixel thumbnail and almost invisible on a 4,000-pixel photo. The slider therefore runs up to half the shorter side of your image, which is the largest radius that has any effect. The Maximum preset uses that value. On a square image it gives an exact circle. On any other shape it gives a pill, with the two short sides fully rounded.

Transparent Corners and File Formats

JPG has no transparency, so a JPG with rounded corners is still a rectangle with coloured corners. If the corners must be see-through, choose PNG.

Rounded Image or CSS?

On your own website you do not need to change the file. The CSS property border-radius rounds an image when it is displayed and leaves the file alone. Use this tool when the picture is going somewhere you cannot control the styling: a slide, a document, an email signature, a marketplace listing or a social profile. To make a circular profile picture, crop the photo to a square first with the Image Cropper, then use the Maximum preset here.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I round the corners of an image online?

Add the image above, move the radius slider until the preview looks right, and download it. Choose PNG to keep the corners transparent.

How do I make an image a circle?

The image has to be square. Crop it to 1:1 first, then choose the Maximum preset. A picture that is not square becomes a pill shape, because the radius cannot be more than half the shorter side.

Why are the corners white and not transparent?

The output format is JPG, which cannot store transparency. Switch the format to PNG or WebP and choose the transparent background.

Can I round only some of the corners?

Yes. Switch off Link All and set a radius for each corner. Set a corner to 0 to leave it square, which is useful for a tab or a card with a flat bottom edge.

Does rounding the corners reduce the quality?

The image keeps its pixel dimensions. PNG output is lossless. JPG and WebP output are compressed again at the quality you set.

Is my image uploaded?

No. The corners are cut in your browser and the image does not leave your device.
