This image splitter cuts a picture into equal pieces. Use it to turn a panorama into a seamless Instagram carousel that scrolls as one image, to spread one big picture across your Instagram profile grid, or simply to split an image into any number of rows and columns for printing, puzzles or tiles. The pieces are numbered in the right order and download together as a ZIP.
Three Ways to Split an Image
| Mode | What you get | Use it for |
|---|---|---|
| Instagram carousel | 2–20 side-by-side slides, each 1080 px wide (4:5, square or 3:4) | Panoramas and wide designs that scroll as one picture |
| Instagram profile grid | 3 tiles across, 1–6 rows, each 1080 × 1440 | One large picture spread over your profile |
| Rows and columns | Any grid up to 20 × 20 at full resolution | Printing a poster on several sheets, puzzles, game tiles |
How to Make a Seamless Instagram Carousel
- Pick the number of slides. For a typical phone panorama, 3 or 4 slides keep the picture tall enough to see detail.
- Pick the shape. Portrait 4:5 takes the most room in the feed. Every slide in a carousel has the same shape as the first.
- Add the picture and drag it to choose the strip that is used. The dashed lines show where the slides join.
- Split and download the ZIP.
- Post the slides as one carousel in order: 01 first, then 02 and so on. Do not let Instagram crop them; they are already the right size.
Posting an Instagram Grid in the Right Order
Instagram shows your newest post at the top left of the profile, so a picture spread over the grid has to be posted backwards: the bottom-right piece first and the top-left piece last. The tool numbers the pieces in that order, so you only need to post 01, 02, 03 and so on.
Post them one after another without anything in between; any other post shifts every piece one place and breaks the picture. Three, six or nine pieces work best, because each row of the grid holds three posts.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I split an image into equal parts?
Choose Rows and columns, enter how many of each you want, add the image and press Split. Every piece is the same size, and together they make up the original picture exactly, at full resolution.
How do I make a seamless Instagram carousel?
Choose Instagram carousel, set the number of slides and the shape (4:5 is the usual choice), and drag the picture to choose what is used. Post the pieces in order as one carousel; swiping shows one continuous image.
In what order do I post an Instagram grid?
Start with piece 01 and finish with the highest number. Instagram puts the newest post at the top left of your profile, so the bottom-right piece has to go up first. The numbers in the preview and in the file names follow that order.
Why 3:4 tiles for the profile grid?
Since early 2025, Instagram shows profile grid thumbnails as 3:4 rectangles rather than squares. Tiles of 1080 × 1440 fill those rectangles exactly, so the picture lines up across the grid.
Does splitting reduce the quality?
Rows and columns keeps the original pixels. The Instagram modes resize the picture to 1080 pixels per slide, the width Instagram keeps. Choose PNG to avoid any compression, or JPG at 92% for smaller files.
Is my image uploaded?
No. The image is split in your browser and never leaves your device.
