A 2,000 W cooktop at an average 60% setting for 90 minutes a day uses 2 × 0.6 × 1.5 = 1.8 units. Over 30 days that is 54 units, which costs 432 at 8 per unit.
The power setting matters more than the label. An induction cooktop delivers its full rating only on the top setting; at lower settings it draws less or switches on and off. If your first bill with induction gives a figure, adjust the setting until the calculator matches it.

Why does the calculator ask how long a cylinder lasts?
So the comparison uses what your household actually spends on gas, instead of assumed efficiencies for gas burners and induction coils, which vary between sources.
What power setting should I enter?
Boiling water on the top setting is close to 100%. Simmering and slow cooking use much less. If unsure, start with 60% and adjust once you compare with a bill.
Does an induction cooktop use power on standby?
The display may draw a little, but it is small next to cooking. The calculator counts only cooking time.
