Bill Calculator by DISCO

All 10 ex-WAPDA DISCOs bill off the same NEPRA-notified tariff — pick yours below for a calculator pre-labelled with your company and coverage area.

GEPCO Rates Are the Same NEPRA Schedule as Every Other Ex-WAPDA DISCO

NEPRA, not GEPCO, sets the tariff — the same notified schedule applies across all 10 ex-WAPDA companies (LESCO, IESCO, FESCO, MEPCO, HESCO, SEPCO, PESCO, QESCO, TESCO and GEPCO itself), so nothing about pricing changes by switching which DISCO's territory you live in. The one carve-out is K-Electric, which bills Karachi separately under its own tariff. GEPCO (Gujranwala Electric Power Company) serves Gujranwala, Sialkot, Gujrat, Narowal, Hafizabad and Mandi Bahauddin. GEPCO was carved out of LESCO's territory in 1998 to give the Gujranwala–Sialkot industrial belt — known for sports goods, cutlery and leather exports — its own distribution company.

Energy Charge = Total Units × rate of the matching slab (not incremental)

Here's the part that catches people out: residential billing is non-telescopic, so it does not work like a progressive tax bracket where only the excess is taxed higher. GEPCO instead re-rates your whole month the instant your total crosses into a new slab. On a 1 kW connection, an Unprotected consumer at 300 units (Rs 33.10/unit) pays roughly Rs 12,285 — but one more unit, at Rs 36.46/unit, pushes the same month to roughly Rs 13,592.

How Protected / Unprotected / Lifeline Status Works

You don't pick this category yourself, and one high or low month doesn't change it either — the rule runs on a rolling average:

  • Lifeline: 12-month average consumption ≤100 units — the lowest rates (Rs 3.95–7.74/unit), exempt from fixed charges, but no slab benefit if you exceed 50 units in a month.
  • Protected: 6-month average consumption ≤200 units — subsidised rates (Rs 10.54–13.01/unit) with the benefit of one previous slab.
  • Unprotected: everyone else — full tariff rates from Rs 22.44/unit up to Rs 47.20/unit above 700 units.

GEPCO tracks your consumption history and prints your assigned category directly on your bill — this calculator can't work that out for you, so select whichever category actually appears on your bill.

What Else Gets Added to the Bill

  • Fixed Charge: billed per kW of sanctioned load (residential Protected/Unprotected use the full load; Time-of-Use residential uses 50% of load; Commercial/Industrial/Agriculture kW-based tariffs use 25% of load or actual maximum demand, whichever is higher) — or a flat per-consumer amount for smaller commercial/industrial categories.
  • FPA (Fuel Price Adjustment): a monthly per-unit true-up of actual vs. assumed fuel cost — can be negative (a credit) when fuel prices fall.
  • QTA (Quarterly Tariff Adjustment): a separate quarterly true-up for capacity, O&M and other system costs, revised every three months.
  • Electricity Duty: a provincial tax on the subtotal, typically around 1.5% — check your bill for the exact figure.
  • GST: 18% general sales tax applied to the subtotal.
  • TV Fee: a flat PTV licence fee (commonly Rs 35) included on most domestic bills.

⚠️ This is an estimate, not your official bill. FPA, QTA, duty and GST figures change monthly/quarterly — always check your latest GEPCO bill for the exact figures and customize them in the calculator above.

How to Use This GEPCO Bill Calculator

This GEPCO online bill calculator works entirely in your browser — no account, no uploading your actual bill, just the four inputs below.

  • Step 1 — Category: pick the exact category printed on your bill (Lifeline, Protected, Unprotected, Time-of-Use, Commercial, Industrial or Agriculture).
  • Step 2 — Units: enter the kWh figure from your last meter reading.
  • Step 3 — FPA: enter the Fuel Price Adjustment figure from your last bill — it changes monthly and can be negative.
  • Step 4 — Fine-tune: open "Customize" to adjust GST, Electricity Duty, QTA or TV Fee if your bill shows different values.

The Slab Cliff in Numbers — Protected vs Unprotected

700Rs 13.01*Rs 11,241.36*Rs 41.85Rs 35,814.15

*The Protected tariff table only defines slabs up to 200 units — a real Protected consumer averaging over 200 units for 6 months would be reclassified as Unprotected, so these rows are illustrative of the rate structure, not a realistic bill for that consumer. Notice the Unprotected jump from 300→301 units: about Rs 1,308 for one extra unit, purely from the slab-cliff mechanic. Figures verified against a real IESCO bill and this page's own calculator, which excludes TV fee (Rs 0) by default — add it in "Customize" if your bill shows one.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the GEPCO tariff the same as IESCO's or LESCO's?

Yes. All 10 ex-WAPDA DISCOs — including GEPCO, LESCO, IESCO, FESCO, MEPCO and the rest — bill off one NEPRA-notified schedule, so the per-unit rate for a given category is identical company to company. K-Electric in Karachi is the single exception, running its own separate tariff outside this NEPRA schedule.

Why does one extra unit sometimes add over a thousand rupees to a GEPCO bill?

Because the tariff is non-telescopic, not progressive — crossing a slab boundary re-rates every unit in the month, not just the units past the line. At 300 units (Unprotected, Rs 33.10/unit) the bill runs about Rs 12,285; one more unit crosses into Rs 36.46/unit and pushes the same-month bill to roughly Rs 13,592.

How does GEPCO decide whether I'm Protected, Unprotected or Lifeline?

It's based on a rolling consumption average, not this month's units alone — 6 months averaging 200 units or under gets you Protected status, and 12 months averaging 100 units or under gets you Lifeline. GEPCO tracks that history on its own systems and prints the result on your bill, so match the calculator's category to what's printed there.

What exactly is FPA on a GEPCO bill?

It's the monthly reconciliation between the fuel cost assumed when the tariff was set and what generation actually cost that month, billed roughly two months after the fact. A cheaper-than-expected fuel month makes FPA negative, crediting your bill rather than adding to it — the number to use is whatever your latest bill prints, since it moves every month.

Why am I still charged a fixed amount on a low-usage GEPCO bill?

That line covers the fixed cost of maintaining your connection, charged per kW of sanctioned load regardless of actual consumption (a flat per-consumer fee applies to some smaller categories instead). Lifeline consumers are the one group excused from it, though they're subject to a minimum monthly charge instead.

Base tariff data sourced from NEPRA's official Tariff Guide (S.R.O 279(I)/2026, February 2026), notified uniformly for all ex-WAPDA DISCOs including GEPCO. FPA/QTA/GST/Electricity Duty change monthly or quarterly — verify against your own bill before making financial decisions.
